"Purpose of 'The Pedestrian."

In the book, “The Pedestrian”, Ray Bradbury’s wrote a short story in about THE FUTURE in the 2053. Bradbury's`s purpose of writing this story was warning us. In “The Pedestrian”, Bradbury`s wrote about a guys life in 2053 and it was not great, it was horrible. Everyone stayed in their houses and no one really hung out with each other anymore. The world seemed more quiet than usual, and no one walked outside anymore except Mr. Leonard Mead. As you can see, our assignment last night was to write about how the future would be in 2053. The story in “The Pedestrian” was a bad experience into the future of 2053 and when we were asked to write about the future in 2053 as an assignment; most of our classmates and students wrote about how technology is way better and they wrote how awesome it will be. Bradbury`s story wasn`t a good experience at all, Mr. Mead got arrested just walking alone of the streets. The world in what Mr. Lead experience was lonely, sad, and no one walked around. Bradbury`s story is just trying to tell us that life in the future is not going to be all fun and happy; it`s going to be worse than ever.

Life in 2053 – “The Pedestrian” Before You Read.

The world has changed so much, today is January 28, 2053. Transportation is way different from years ago, We have lanes in the sky; which means flying cars. The only cars that are able to be driven up in the sky are: 2003 Ferrari Aurea Spider, Chevrolet Corvette C5 Z06, Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, and the Cadillac XTS Platinum. Those cars are highly expensive and are the only one that have the technology to fly. They have lanes and stop light and stops signs and everything else. There is this thing where you can press a button and it changes the paint on your wall to your room to a whole new different color. Life is more high tech and there are machine robots that cleans your room while you get you are getting ready for the day.

Only One

The connection to “You want a social life, with friends” by Kenneth Koch, and to Contents of The Dead Man’s Pocket” by Jack Finney has a connection in choosing the right things. Like, choosing friends, love, or work. In “You want a social life, with Friends”, he could not just have all three things, “But never may have three”, said in the poem by Kenneth Koch. Either you have love, friends, or work. At the end if you pick something like work, doesn`t give you friends, love, and just the things you want; because at the end he barely had anything. The poem, “You want a social life, with friends”, has a huge connection to the story, “ Contents of The Dead Man’s Pocket”. The connection from “Contents of The Dead Man`s Pocket” shows that he could just not have three things and try to work it out. After all in the book the mans name Tom, regret spending time with his wife and chose work over her. Later, Tom realized that he could only have one and it was to spend it with love. The theme of both stories are that you can`t have just all of the things you want, and you should have one thing that makes life worth living for. The theme connects to my life as in that I honestly know that I can`t have everything in life to make me happy. I know that one thing can keep me happy and that is love from my friends.

My Paragraph

One of my important possessions are my dad`s picture and my mother`s necklace. I am going to have to say my father`s picture is something I would not want to lose and would risk my life to get it. My father`s picture is the only copy that can be seen clearly, and I am also the only one who has a picture of him. I would feel so distressed, and furious. I would fight to the point my life would not mean anything anymore; risk my life for my father`s picture. It would make me super insane and no way there is another copy. I can`t imagine not having a picture of him because it is already 10 times harder without him here, literally. It keeps me moving on each day just having his picture here with me; on my wall... in my room.

“Contents of the Dead Man's Pocket” Plot Change- Prompt A

Tom Benecke really needed the yellow sheet of paper, it was really important to him. If I was Tom, I would not even think about getting over the hedge to grab this important document. What I would have done differently was flash forwarding into thinking that,what if I can not make it back and I will of course be dead. Flash forward is a transition to a later event or scene that interrupts the normal chronological development of the story. I would have just went to the closes window to grab the paper or have someone or something help me, instead of risking my life.I would might even thinking about calling over some firefighters to help me out with their ladders; even if I have to buy one at Home Depot or something. II would still be happily living with my love one. Tom Benecke should have not gone through that if he would`ve tried doing what I have in mind.
