"Two Kinds" Mother & Daughter Conflict

In the conflict between Jing-Mei and her mother, Jing-Mei is the one I support. For example, she is young and doesn`t know yet what to be and her mother tries pushing her into doing something she does not want to do. This shows how much she is pressured into doing something she does not want to do, and it is not fair to Jing-Mei. It also is showing what kind of mother Jing-Mei has. In addition, her mother gave her piano lessons with Mr. chong who is deaf, also Jing-Mei stealing magazines for her daughter to become a prodigy. Showing that her mother still forced her into practicing piano, even after that disastrous performance. I would be just like Jing-Mei, but only standing up for myself in a stronger way.

"Two Kinds" Summary Poem

Jing-Lei does not play
Mother giving her piano lessons with Mr.Chong
knowing it was so very wrong
Chong couldn`t even hear,
yet Jing-Lei shed some little tears
She practice and practice but only to feel disappointed
yet she wasn’t the genius
it was Shirley Temple
the beauty she didn`t have, maybe it was some pimples?
Her boy cut hair wasn`t it a little rare?
Mother stealing magazines was it all fair?
nothing changed and she didn’t win the trophy
but felt somewhat droopy
didn’t want any of it
or maybe just a little bit?

“Two Kinds” In the Shoes of a Prodigy

Every rule in my family and my culture has to be followed. If I was pressured into doing things that I didn't want to do all the time I would be very angry but then I know I can't do anything about because we have to respect our elders and do what they say. It is our custom to follow what they say. We have to ask their approval for everything we do. If an elder told my parents that I had did something wrong I would be punished. In my culture the daughter always has to represent their family and how they honored. I wish that I could have her courage to tell them I don't want to do something but I can't because I would be punished. I would have to listen to them even if I didn't like what they were making me do, I had to follow it and not complain about it because it would make me seem ungrateful. If they offer me something I would have to take it and not push it away because it would be rude. I could not do what Jing-mei did because it would make my family look like we had no respect and our family would be dishonored. (By the way this is a picture of my mom when she was young)

“My Input for Staff-Teacher Conferences”

I feel that the grade I`ve earned is horrible. I am usually up on top of Ms. Priester`s class work, warm-up, and homework. I have been doing my homework since this year has started. The strengths I have in this class, is that I always get my work done and I usually understand it. The challenges I face in this class are not paying attention and having so little time. To improve my grade I will ask an adult to proofread my blog post before posting it. My house parents, and also Derrick can help me a lot. Ms. Priester can help me raise my grade by telling me what I have to fix and what to watch out for when I am typing my post. The grade I hope to get at the end of this quarter is a B at least or an A.

“Two Kinds” Conflict Experience.

Someone very important to me expected me to something I did not want to do. I no longer listen to the person no more, they used me. At the beginning, I was going to do what they said for me to do but I felt hurt that they didn`t care how I felt about it. Also, I was not comfortable about it either. Before, to me they were a great person, who was caring and loving. Yet, I did not understand. After, saying no. They were mad at me and could not stare at me. This situation is to personal to say. I have to say I was a happy person to say no and went with what my heart was telling me. I also, no longer speak to that person.

“Character Analysis of Sammie Barilla"

The person I will be writing about is my sister Sammie Barilla, she is the most caring person I know. I wish this homework assignment would let me name more of her character traits, but only one main one. She always cared for people no matter what they did to her or even if she didn’t knew them. She cares so much for her new family, she is such a great mother. I never was close to my sister until I got into the system; she was the only made the effort to help me. When no one else was there, she was. i can`t thank her enough, we weren’t even close at the beginning and she still stood by my side. Now we are closer than ever, she is so caring. She did everything for me, she made sure I was happy even though I didn`t have family close she made sure I still get to see her even if she is far away. I am happy because of her. Later, did I realize we have a lot in common; our personality is so much alike. I would never ask for a better sister than her. So caring, loving, honest, confident, generous, understanding, and so much more. I love her so much, and I am thankful for having her in my life. To me, it would not matter if I lose everybody else but as long as I have her…I am always happy. To be this inspired by one person like her, is the best thing.

“Everyday Use" Character to Person Comparison Paragraph.”

Dee reminds me so much of my oldest sister. She is always pretty, the boys like her, she was popular, but we didn`t have a lo of money either. My sister never wanted to bring her friends t our house, our house wasn`t all that bad looking; it a just small for 5 five people to live in the house. My other brothers and sisters had to live next door. All the younger sisters always envied the older ones, they had more time to hang outside and hang out at the movies. We all pretty much hate each other from time to time and fought over many things. There was a time where my mom bought a nice gold bracelet and everyone was mad.

“’Everyday Use’ from Dee's Point of View.”

In my story there are Maggie, mom, and I( Dee). Maggie envy me her older sister who is very pretty and doesn`t have a scar like Maggie does. I dont want my friends to come see my house becasue of how poor we are and it looks terrible. Maggie envy me because of my beauty, Maggie got the scar from the fire that occurred in their last home. I did not get burn, I was outside. Maggie tries to overcome how she feels about her me, and even our mother see it. Maggie sits there to think about when she got burn and how poor we are becoming. Maggie and I fought wanting the quilt from our grandmother.

“Everyday Use” Before You Read: Traditions and Heirlooms

My family has a heirloom that is handed to the younger generation. It has been passed down since it was my older sister. It is a string that is blessed and it has written words written in symbols; that is wrap around a metal plate. It is hard to explain, I only know the name of it in Khmer. I would pass it down to my daughter next and make sure she wears it for a couple of years. The string symbolises protection, health, and good luck. Girls wear it around our lower waist and guys usually wear it around the middle of their stomach.

"Character Prior Knowledge Paragraph about Tom Benecke"

In the story, “Contents of the Dead Man`s Pocket”, Tom Benecke character was ambitious, self-centered, and impatient. These three traits changes throughout the whole story. Tom was very ambitious when it came working, he focuses on to much of the big picture and he fails to hangout with his wife. His trait changes when he decides not to go to the movies with his wife. When the paper flew out the window the second time, he realized that he can always do the paper over again but he can never take the night back with spending time with his wife if he had died. The beginning of the story, Tom was very self-centered and always worried about his work that his wife. He finds that working was more important than his wife, layer in the night he almost loses his life. He stayed alive because he stayed strong for his wife because he care and love her. Tom now became less ambitious, less self-centered, and less impatient with everything, and now that`s his character.

9/11

My memories on 9/11 was when I was sick sitting at home watching Pokemon. I was 5 years old and the only person who was with me was my dad. Everyone was at school or at work. I didn`t know what to think, I didnt understand how it happen or what. No one in my house talked about it at all, everyone came home early and we just sat down, no one went outside for a while. When we went back to school, there was the sign 9/11 everywhere.

"The Pedestrian" Center for Regressive Tendencies Blog Post

The Psychiatric Center is cold, dark, and very quiet. There are many robots standing as guards and they look very still. Inside this Psychiatric building center looks like, a wall of steel and it is freezing, painted black and with a strong fence built around a person. They sit you down and erase your mind and transfer your mind with their life skills, to live like them; inside the house and no one walking outside. The robots are in control of the Psychiatric center because they know the technology use of erasing memories into new ones.

"Purpose of 'The Pedestrian."

In the book, “The Pedestrian”, Ray Bradbury’s wrote a short story in about THE FUTURE in the 2053. Bradbury's`s purpose of writing this story was warning us. In “The Pedestrian”, Bradbury`s wrote about a guys life in 2053 and it was not great, it was horrible. Everyone stayed in their houses and no one really hung out with each other anymore. The world seemed more quiet than usual, and no one walked outside anymore except Mr. Leonard Mead. As you can see, our assignment last night was to write about how the future would be in 2053. The story in “The Pedestrian” was a bad experience into the future of 2053 and when we were asked to write about the future in 2053 as an assignment; most of our classmates and students wrote about how technology is way better and they wrote how awesome it will be. Bradbury`s story wasn`t a good experience at all, Mr. Mead got arrested just walking alone of the streets. The world in what Mr. Lead experience was lonely, sad, and no one walked around. Bradbury`s story is just trying to tell us that life in the future is not going to be all fun and happy; it`s going to be worse than ever.

Life in 2053 – “The Pedestrian” Before You Read.

The world has changed so much, today is January 28, 2053. Transportation is way different from years ago, We have lanes in the sky; which means flying cars. The only cars that are able to be driven up in the sky are: 2003 Ferrari Aurea Spider, Chevrolet Corvette C5 Z06, Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce, and the Cadillac XTS Platinum. Those cars are highly expensive and are the only one that have the technology to fly. They have lanes and stop light and stops signs and everything else. There is this thing where you can press a button and it changes the paint on your wall to your room to a whole new different color. Life is more high tech and there are machine robots that cleans your room while you get you are getting ready for the day.
