Internal and External Conflicts in “Sheila, The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant”

In the story, “Sheila, The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant”, faces both external and internal conflicts. His external conflict is the struggle he had with the Bass. He was happy that he had caught the big fish and tries hiding it away from Shelia. His internal conflict is his feelings for Shelia because he is trying to impress her, but she thinks fishing is stupid. He likes Shelia for so long and tried things to get her to see him the way he sees her. Also, he feels if she sees the Bass he had caught it would make her not like him even more. As the results of these conflicts, he realizes that he had let go of the fish because he wanted Shelia. He also wanted the biggest fish he ever caught. Later, Shelia leaves him and left with another guy. He wish he could’ve picked that fish over her. Also, there are many other fishes in the sea, but he should have let her go instead.
